Also I believe the tanning industry is less than environmentally friendly.
Are shavings made form re-newed forests etc

Just think about everything that is used in the horse industry and look at how it is manufactured and where the raw materials come from.

so sustainable development...shavings come from wood, come from trees, which we must replace to continue to get shavings without damaging the future generations supply.

ahh i'm starting to get the idea! thanks soooo much for the help peeps! now we have sorted that, what are your main concerns about the ozone and global warming etc?

Water - how much gets tipped out and wasted everytime you refresh their buckets, some suggest it should be collected and used to water something else e.g. the yard garden.

Shavings are waste products really - trees aren't cut to make shavings, not economically viable, they are a by product of wood products - so using them then rotting muckheap down for compost is actually green!!!

Bit of a gruesome one but burying horses now has rules so that it doesn't contaminate water sources.

Also rules under that single farming whoosit thingy about not poaching land in gateways etc?

Are horses old shoes recycled? Environmental impact of plastic off haylage bales/feed bags?

Hope that helps!
