Have you had third party insurance removed from you policies?
My insurance company have removed it from my policy because Wiliam has been treated for suspected EPSM!! Even though the biopsy came back negative, they have excluded this on this years policy!
Anyone else had this???

my insurance removed any treatment on my horses right eye after he had it removed. Not sure what they expected me to claim on it for in the future..

My horse was diagnosed with guttaral pouch infection when she was bleeding from the nose. Turned out to be a completly harmless cyst inside her nostril which has now disappeared, but my insurance won't insure her for any type of bleeding from the nose now. Horse was sent to Edinbrough at huge expense and stress for her and me for an emergency operation and it turned out to be a bloody cyst although that's another story I guess.

My beef with them is the fact they have removed the liability side of my insurance.
This means i'm not comfortable taking him out hacking or anywhere off the yard for that matter!
If there is an accident, i'm not insured, and if he got out and onto a road i'm not insured either!
How the hell can they do that when all he has had done is have a biopsy to see if he has Shivers????

do you keep him at home or on a livery yard?
If you keep him at home you are more then likely covered under your house insurance for 3rd party. My friend found this out when her horse reared over onto a car at a show, her house insurance paid out for it under the household pets bit.

What about joining BHS - good cover for around £50 a year covers you and the public at large on him or any other horse. Oh and anyone else riding him I believe...

Yes, join the BHS as a gold member. Although you may want a word with their insurers before something happens to make sure they would pay out.

I would kick up an almighty stink with your insurnace company though. I did when mine tried to stick a ridiculous exclusion on and they took it off. Or change companies!
