Yes I have used it, it's excellent to protect and heal a wound anywhere where it's difficult to bandage. It may prevent proud flesh appearing but I don't know whether it necessarily will get rid of it on an old wound.
Thanks brightmount, was thinking I'd get some and see as not really horrendous price. His wound isn't old (3 weeks) and the vets just started trimmin proud flesh, but will have to wait as still got a 'hole' in which grannulation (sp?) tissue hasn't completely filled. Just been told is amazin by someone and wanted to check with some others!!
My friend's TB sustained a nasty kick to his hock that penetrated the joint capsule. He had surgery to flush the joint which then needed to heal. But proud flesh began to appear. The vets applied copper sulphate which you have to apply WITHOUT a bandage and ONLY to the proud flesh. It burns the proud flesh away so you mustn't let it touch the newly forming skin around the wound edges. Seems to have done the job. They left a little jar of it with my friend to carefully apply herself a couple more times. You do need to treat it with great care as it's highly toxic. Neds don't feel it as proud flesh has no nerve supply. Good luck!
