I'm over in Liverpool for the next couple of months, and I'm hoping to find somewhere to ride while I'm here.

Any recommendations for places to ride that are accessible by public transport?

Would love to try something different, so if there's anywhere that does side saddle, or maybe polocrosse, I'd love to hear about it.

Aigburth is a nice area, I know it well :) riding centre-wise I know bowlers in formby used to do side-saddle lessons, I don't know how easy it would be to get to although I imagine you'd be able to get the train. They also definitely do beach rides, and the next door yard used to do hunt hirelings (I'm pretty sure they still do).
In Lpool itself there is Croxteth park, it's a riding school, good standard, pony club centre, Bhs approved, but I don't think they do anything other than 'normal' lessons. If you do find somewhere that does polocrosse or sidesaddle then I'd be interested to go too!

Thanks! Will let you know if I do!

A little bit further away, but there is Bold Heath in St Helen's, which is a large equestrian centre. When I lived in the Ormskirk area there was a nice little equestrian centre in Maghull too - can't remember it's name, but I'm sure it would come up on Google...

Thanks everyone. BlairandAzria, I've contacted the Side Saddle Association and contacted the chairman for the region, so fingers crossed there's someone not too far away. I'll let you know when I get a reply. :)

Are you sure it was Maghull? I know Maghull, and can't remember a riding centre. Unless you mean Lydiate? There used to be a place called Longacres there, I don't know if it's still going.

BlairandAzria, I may have found somewhere, going to give them a ring on Monday and see. :)

(Just had a look at public transport and it might not be reasonable...unless I find a way of making a weekend of it.)

Turns out the instructor is only available on weekdays, as they're really busy, and I can't do weekdays. :(

Think my ambition to try side saddle will have to wait a bit longer.
