Equestrian Centres / Riding Schools Near Sheffield

Hi (sorry a little Long )

I am part of Hallam uni riding club and have been to a few different places for lessons however most just seem to be set up for beginners and those just learning. There are a few of us who are very competent riders and have our own horses at home and compete properly and are just wanting somewhere to go for a nice ride in term time. The places we have been have horses that aren't schooled properly and we a bit out of their depths.

Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions of where we could go?

I would suggest that, as competant riders, you perhaps take some time whilst riding these horses to see if you can school them on. It is one thing to ride a schooled horse through movements, it is another to develop that schooling in a horse.

Perhaps try Sheffield Equestrian Centre. I haven't been myself but a client has when their horse was on long term box rest and was happy. She is a competant rider with a 4yo ex racer.

If you are competent would a share/ ride private horse suit? If it would I would advertise in local tack shops etc, there are many owners who would appreciate a competent rider who could ride in daylight (I presume on your curse you have flexible study time?).

A few people I know have done this, and once established you can have lessons from a trainer on your share horse. I had a sharer for mine in Sheffield many years ago, and it was mutually beneficial, and cost the sharer about the same as riding school lessons to have a FAB horse to ride, over bridleways and moorland, and she was free to book lessons, go competing etc.

I guess it comes down to how experienced and confident you are, and I would also check out insurance.
