Any help appreciated - what would you put in an equestrian based CV??

An opportunity has come up at a stud yard near me caring for the mares and foals full time and I'm unsure what to include and what not to bother with.

I don't want to waffle about too much non-horsey stuff but still want to include anything that might be useful.

Would you include pics of riding, caring for etc? I have a particularly nice one of me helping with a birth that might be relevant but don't want to bombard the prospective employers with pages upon pages!

Anyone out there who is an employer/employee?

Many thanks!

:)

I like to look for relevant work experience, how long they have lasted in each job (not interested in people who have 8 different jobs a year!) and what they think they could bring to the job. I don't want pictures of them riding, as they have a ridden interview (if they can't ride neatly on a mannerly horse, they don't progress to riding one of the greenbrokes and can just be yard staff instead). Everyone has a trial day here, so I can assess practical skills, so only need a basic outline of what you can do. Any first aid experience is a huge bonus and will often tip you to the top of the pile if you have the appropriate certificates already (human and equine). Relevant references are a bonus too, I really don't want to phone a previous employer where you did accounting, would much rather phone the owner of the local riding school where you worked part time weekends. I want someone who sounds confident, but not a show off, someone who is sensible but has a sense of humour, and someone who is not afraid of hard work. I also like it when people ask questions at interviews, (not just what is the pay/holidays/hours). Give me scenarios where you have done something well and how this applies to the job here, ie a situation where you have remained calm under pressure.
Ive rambled a bit there but if you have any specific questions feel free to ask!

That is fantastic, thank you for posting such a long and detailed response :) I'm still undecided about pics, as the role doesn't involve any riding so would be more medical and foaling pics etc...

Really very useful :)

You can write about your foaling and medical experiences to explain them, but a photo doesn't really explain anything, just gives a snapshot to a particular moment in time. I had a girl turn up once with a cv 6 inches thick. Not a hope in hell I was going to read all of that! Short and sweet :)
