Well they are not equestrian direct now are they?, we are having to deal with underrighters and having to claim for kyra, The insurance is taking FOREVER to send out the money!!, My mum owes something around 3k now!! and all because the insurance company is messing us around and keeps on saying that they are going to send us a check then they are saying ohhh we have stuff from equestrian direct that is from 2008, The insurance company though 3months later still havent sent out the second check and they have no reason not to pay it, my mum is ringing up atleast 3 times a week to keep on there backs and are now saying they are sorting out the money but they keep on saying it, What on earth can we do? its bad enough having a injured horse let alone the insurance company not paying out, Any ideas or is it just a waiting game?, is anyone else having problems with them to?, it is just taking the mick now, when ellie hurt herself and we had to claim they sent the check out within the week of having her treatment now they are taking over 3 months, What on earth can you do?

I used to have my horses insured with Equestrian Direct and have nothing but praise for them I'm afraid - one of mine had a horrific accident, clocked up about £6000 worth of bills, and they paid out instantly. The only reason I changed my insurers was because my sponsors now take care of the insurance and do it all through NFU.

I had heard they have changed hands, so perhaps that is the problem?

They're a nightmare aren't they! Eq Direct don't exist anymore, they went out of business earlier this year and the client base was bought by a company who trade as something like Equine Insurance Services. If you were an existing customer, they don't want to know. I needed to start a claim in June so as an existing customer (ie, not a customer new to EIS), they just sent the forms to the loss adjuster, Equine First, who they are using. Basically, you fill your forms in, you send them to EF. EF take about 2 months to look at it and make their minds up, then they recommend that the underwriter (Templeton) pay out, and they write to Templteon, which apparently they do weekly. Then you have to wait for Templeton to send EF a cheque, and EF eventually send you one.

I was sent a cheque 2 weeks ago for vet bills clocked up in August. In the end, I had to resort to sending them weekly recorded delivery letters and just moaning. Others on here said they have to call them every day or every week to ask them when they will pay out. I would write to them, simply telling then how disappointed you are etc etc and would like payment immediately. I put something like it appeared they were withholding payment, which they had no reason to, so I would be grateful for immediate payment. Spoke to a solicitor friend who said because they have never actually refused to pay out so haven't broken any Ts and Cs / contract, you can't really do much bar keep complaining as there isn't a clause in contract which says they will pay in X weeks.

Hope you get the money soon. I've only just paid my vet off and am still waiting for reimbursement for £150 worth of remedial farriery and £50 of physio.... horse due to be x-rayed again soon so really looking forward to that. Thankfully, they agreed in writing at the start of the claim to pay my vet directly, which means the vet chases them for payment too.
