I'm sure that this has been complained about before but why are they sooooooo expensive?

I was in my local tack shop and spotted a nice polo shirt, looked at the price and nearly fainted as it was a penny under £60.00!

Ok, it was a non sale, shop price Joules one, but really... sixty quid?

It was returned to it's hanger and I looked at a couple of a different make that were also nice, but they were also very expensive. So I came home without them. :(

Asda do them... From about £3!

There was a time when Joules used to be decent quality at a reasonable price... Then they went all cath kidston on us and even though we get same quality, the price is somewhat laughable.

It's for yummy mummy's and wannabe country folk these days.

I don't blame them... It's a business but many original customers have moved swiftly on...

I have a couple that I bought years ago in the sale and they are still going strong, so the quality is good as you say.

Sadly I don't have a local Asda. :( £3 is about right though as I do a mucky job and then get more muck on top of that muck when doing the horses. :p

Horse wear aren't bad quality and paid just over £20 for my new one, ebay is my place for joules, too expensive otherwise!

Did pick up a LOAD of RL 'polo' polo shirts when I went to Turkey a couple of years ago, yeah they're a bit shin but so so soft and surprisingly good quality! Hoping the market in Lanzarote in a few weeks is as good!

Primark do really nice polo shirts too, come spring/ summer. Al dresses almost exclusively in Primark stuff for general riding and schooling (with nice jods off eBay), and always looks like she's stepped off the cover of Derby House, irritating girl.

I don't let joules stuff near the horse, but have some nice polos for riding ftom primark (their golf range) and lidl or aldi I forget which. All under a fiver.

If you live not far from Somerset, the outlet centre at Clarkes village is pretty good.

I have just bought some polo shirts myself from The Original Factory Shop. Two for £8, and while they aren't the best quality they are fine for mucking out etc, and come in a nice range of colours.

I begrudge paying the E.A.T on clothers (like that one JillA :D)

Toggi ones are not too expensive. Think they are normally under £20. Nice quality and designs as well if you are looking for an equestrian brand polo shirt

The point is more the fact that Joules et al are no longer aimed at equestrian markets (despite still being sold in tack shops etc) hence the inflated price...

Their target market is VERY different these days.

What about TK Maxx? They do some good quality ones sometimes?

Depends which one you go to I suppose...

Joules do loads of sales in school hall's and village hall's round here. Costs to get in (which really annoys me. I pay for myself and glare at them when they nod at my daughter as if she ought to be paying, then march in). The clothes smell musty, some have obvious defects - also pointed out when you pay so you don't get a shock - but they do start cheap, and they're new, just need a wash.

Worth asking your local school's to see if they happen round your way. Advertising is usually word of mouth or a soggy poster outside for a week before...

Alternatively, I agree with the Tallyho, TK Maxx.

This is a bugbear of mine. :o Who pays, like, forty quid for a T-shirt with a collar and some writing on? Are they gold plated? Surely not many horsey people have that kind of money to waste?

M & S have got some really nice, not-too-heavy-fabric ones in at the moment for about £12. Who wants to look like a wannabe polo player anyway, except maybe polo players?

Yep, I agree - Im one of their original customers, but their prices are ridiculous nowadays especially for what you get (several of my polo's have shrunk or faded quickly). I guess the only way to get cheap polo's is to buy unbranded type ones.

I own one joules polo (which i LOVE) but the only reason I have it is because the day i walked into the shop in st andrews, scotland they had a lucky dip and I won a £40 voucher, all of it went on the polo! I did see a lovely mary king polo I wanted but that was even more £££££££ so settled for a regular one.

I'd buy another one off ebay and i don't wear it down the yard I only wear it to the races.

There are some nice cheaper ones on rideaway :)

I was in Classic Dressage the other day which is an amazing shop and I love so many of the clothes and matchy stuff in there but I was gobsmacked to find a polo shirt for £115!!!! My OH is becoming accustomed to how is expensive horse things are but he, as was I, couldn't believe anyone would pay that for a pretty plain polo shirt. £115!!!!!!!

Another vote for Primarks golf range.

I wouldn't spend £60 on a polo shirt even if I won the euromillions.
Plus I don't like brands that are like 'I'm a horserider and I live in the country rarara' down all the sleeves
:D
