Just curious about how much press the equestrian events have got over in the UK for the Olympics. Started thinking about it this morning as every commuter on the train was holding a paper with a massive picture of Anky on the front page. And that is why equestrian sports are taking so much more seriously over here. People actually realise they are a sport and not 'posh people on horses'!

to be honest we are getting what our pperformance so far deserves but in general press coverage in 'normal papers' is sporadic at best.

I can say there's more coverage here than in North America, on average. Independent riders do some of their own promotion - Ian is particularly adept - and a good scandal or an Olympic medal can raise a bit of attention but otherwise, nada. Even though Canada has the first or second ranked showjumping venue in the world and it does a lot of its own promotion I'd bet the average Canadian doesn't even know it exists.

Very little, as I said in another thread you wouldn't know equestrianism was even in the Olympics based on the profile TBH. If it wasn't for Tina Cooks Bronze I can't think there would have been a mention.

Then again, rowing was hardly headline news before Steve Redgrave and the boys was it? Winning gold medals tends to make people sit up and take notice.
Except in this country, there is such a generalised chip on the shoulder attitude to anything with a horse - it's only for posh people.
Whereas rowing in regattas and downhill ski-ing have always been big in industrial towns?
