Hi looking for some help on stockists or wholesalers to use. I’m looking to have my own equestrian business either selling top brands Sam shield, equiline, amino etc or creating my own brand line and where is best to buy products from

You‘d have more luck contacting the brands directly and asking for the details of their UK importers. I do know Zebra Products are the UK wholesalers for a few premium brands.

Ref: making your own brand line - you’ll surely need to work with product designers and manufacturer, not just rebadge stuff from wholesale.

A lot of equestrian stuff is made in India and they will brand your design if you deal direct with them. Import duty is expensive and you need to buy big to make it pay.

You will probably find that premium brands won't let you have an account until you've proven yourself as a retailer.

The successful tack shops/retailers that I know have started off with budget brands as unless you have a massive amount of capital behind you it's impossible to get accounts with anyone else.

Once they build up clientele and are making money this enables them to approach premium brands

It also means doing a tonne of research into fashions and what the "next big thing" is going to be so that they are ahead of the curve.

So yeah it's not just a case of contacting a supplier and they let you sell their products or launching a range of TPO apparel.

To be successful in this field needs a LOT of work and research then even more work and fact finding and more work and market testing and more work then even more work I'd you want a physical presence rather than just an online business.

More people are shopping online and bigger companies can afford to be very competitive. You have to find and develop your own unique selling point which isnt easy either.

It's not just a case of daying I want to set up a business selling high end equestrian goods*

* unless you're already minted and can buy a way in
