"Equestrian" Wire Fencing?

We have some paddocks divided by what is branded as equestrian wire fencing. We researched it before putting it in and had a few early problems with shoes coming off and the odd scrape which we took back to the manfacturers who sell 1000s of metres of the stuff and who assured us they never had any issues. Unfortunately this has now gone a step further and we have had a horse roll into the wire and get 2 legs caught. Thank goodness it looks like our special horse will, fingers crossed, be ok with time and care but I wondered if anyone else has had any problems with this type of fencing - which is like stock wire but much smaller holes. This time it didn't just bend and bow it also broke causing all sorts of different injuries. Thanks for reading. ATGANI

many years ago i had my horse at a yard with stock fencing which was wire and the holes were supposed to be too small for a hoof to get through. my mare struck out at a horse who had got loose and was outside her field and caught her foot in the fence resulting in a pulled tendon and a deep wire cut round the pastern so i would never use it again. it also cost me a fortune in vets bills!!!!!!!

we have the equestrian wire and i would struggle to see how a horse would get its hoof through? Our stuff is super thick and the holes are only about 2 inches square at most. Ive seen ours kick it and it never moves. We get random wild rescues in for fostering, and our minis and foals and they have never even got a scratch off it? Ive seen my bih horse kick out a few times and hit the wire with full force but he just bounces off it. Is the tension correct on the fencing?

the fencing which my horse put her foot through had a bigger gap than 2 inches but it was supposed to be stock wire specially for horses .it was about 12 years ago and from memory the gaps were prob about 4 x 3 inches, they were not square so not the same as paddi22.

4 x 3 inches sounds like normal stock wire. the equestrian stuff has tiny holes but is mad expensive. I paid 300 euro for 50 metres
