Ok, so a Pessoa is a single piece of rope with the centre placed behind the quarters and either side then going to the bit and then back to be fixed on the the roller at a position of your choice.

how does an equi ami work? I can't see for the pictures?

the equi ami, comes in 2 sections, a section that goes round the back, and then the section for the front.

I preferred the look of this as you can remove the back section, and one section doesn't interfere with the other.

So one section going from one side of roller, around the bum and to the other side of the roller

Then another section going from roller to bit and then back to roller at desired position?

A Pessoa chopped in half if you like? So it can't sock them in the gob?

Yeah you got it Fat_Pony, the lunge aid is fantastic the riding aid is not!

I like it as it doesn't jab them in the mouth just gives a soft 'feel' and they can't lean or evade it in any way-and my little mare has thrown everything at it has now just given in and is starting to go very well.

I have one too, my boy goes really well in it, as said earlier they cannot lean and have to use themselves properly. Also I like it as you only have to adjust it from one side because it's self centering. Well worth the money. But make sure you use a lungei g roller with large rings.

So would you get the same effect by using a bandage round their bum and side reins or is the front different? I've never heard of it before!

I don't think so, its a loop that is continuous the whole way round, there are no fixed parts anywhere on it whereas you could not get the same effect with side reins and a bandage IMO
