Does anyone ave any or similar turnout chaps??

I am dreading turing Jack back out in the field he slashed his leg open in but needs must and we cant find what he cut his leg on in the first palce (Im going to search the field again). I thought to be on the safe side I might buy some Close Contact Equi Chaps but am worried they will make his legs sore as he is very sensitive bless him.

I have read up one the Close Contact ones which say they have minimum risk of rubbing.

Any info appreciated

I have used these for mud fever prevention. They are tailored to the leg which helps prevent slipping, and the fabric is pimpled (stomatex) to prevent the leg heating up.

I used to hose them off at the end of each day, spin them in the washing machine and dry them over the back of chairs. You don't want to dry them on radiators or they get stiff, that could cause rubbing. Leaving them muddy could cause rubbing.

The sportabac turnout socks are made of softer material than equi-chaps, though I haven't used them myself.

My horse wears the Equilibrium Sun Chaps for 12 hours a day and although I've only had them a few weeks she's worn them a lot and they haven't rubbed so far. I know they're made of different material but they're the same shape. Her Stretch & Flex Training Wraps don't rub either (same material, different shape)

G is being turned out in them atm.

He's coming in with clean, dry legs and his mud fever has cleared up. They seem to keep the legs 'cool' and G is prone to filling from any kind of boot but they don't seem to have caused this or any rubs.

When one of mine was out during the day and in at night I used equilibrium turnout socks on him and they were fantastic, didn't move or rub him and kept his legs very dry.
Shame they do not fit my other horse

I prefer the sportabac turnout socks as I found equichaps quite awkward to handle - the velcro was ferocious and stuck like a limpet to absolutely everything. I also thought they were pretty bulky compared with the sportabacs.

I have a pair of the equilbrum turn out chaps on my cob in the winter, his legs are clipped out. the dont rub at all but i do find they slip down if he does alot of running about. They wash well tho as i hose them every night then dry them again for the morning, They are good for keeping legs dry and warm. Hes got arthiritis. I did try the derby house turnout socks and they were a complete waste of time, they looked like ankle warmers!

Having a livery yard with all year grazing, quite a few liveries and myself have used the various turnout boots and have generally found the following,

All makes - ideally you need to wash and dry them daily - quite a lot of liveries gave up on this and they then sat in the tack boxes!

Sportabac ones - a livery kept on having the straps breaking on her, take longer to dry.

Equichaps - quicker drying, i didnt have any probems with mine.

Derby houses own turnout socks - really good value for money compared to the others plus, they actually did some that fitted a heavy horse and had them in stock

Thanks BlackWhite381 think I will be going for the sportabac ones. May well get both and see how they do. Anything is better than him hurting his leg again.
