Equi-chaps v Roma Neoprene Wraps (turnout boots)

Was just about to buy a pair of Equi-chaps as boy has had mud fever now healed, when I noticed these....

I am not too happy about the £70 that Equi-chaps are retailed at however prior to seeing the above there was no alternative as other brands stopped half way down the pasterns which is where the problem lies.

Any one experience of either?
Do you still have to use barrier cream/powder with them?

I've used the Equilibrium ones in the past, but they weren't effective (in fact they caused more trouble) so I stopped using them.

My sister has some shires turnout boots off ebay, just looked and they are called mud socks...

Here they are. Work wonders for our tb who is prone to mud fever and also she can ride him in them round muddy tracks.

I bought Equichaps (haven't had chance to use them yet!) because their neoprene directs heat away from the skin, they have better coverage of the fetlock than alot of others, and because of reading reviews of users. The general concensus seemed to be that they fitted well, didn't come off, and did the job they were supposed to.
