Equi qmi -- with saddle, not roller?

Is it ok to use an equi ami with saddle and not a roller? I need to get around to buying a roller, but want to get started with lunging with it in meantime. Thanks

You can use the riding aid with the saddle - obviously. But you need the rings on the side of the roller to create the loop principle for lunging. You can't do this with your saddle - unless your stirrups were set at a fixed point and then I suspect it would be dangerous.

Rollers aren't expensive - but please make sure the side rings are big enough to accommodate the clips. You need to slide them through to create the loops. Shires black rollers don't have big enough rings.

I use mine with a Mark Todd roller and the clips etc fit through the rings fine.
