looking to buy one of these next year, a second hand one and just wondered if they keep their value from new. And really how much the second hand ones are making.

Would ideally like a one with a little bit of day living in. I know they've changed the models quite a few times over the years too, so any help on this too!

plus things to look out for, common faults, etc

thanks!

We've got a Show Trekka M, and the dealer says pretty much guaranteed resale for a good price - the SH ones are very sought after, altho more the new shapes than the old.

The Show Trekka has a small living area with a seat which turns into two bunks, hob and sink, storage in a little wardrobe. It's a great sitting or changing area and nice to be able to make a cup of tea, but for more than one night, a bit tight for two adults! There's obviously no heating so you do need warm sleeping bags etc unless its mid summer.

The Star Trekka has a bit more living space but is a much bigger trailer and obviously more expensive.

Both also have one locker at the back, and you can have a second one added for more money. These lockers are actually huge and really useful - you can get a saddle in the tack one, and the other one holds three huge buckets, poop scooper, rugs, bandages etc. We also had a rug rack fitted to ours, although they are a bit small.

Horses travel brilliantly in them, and they are very easy to handle/load into if you are on your own. However, you do need a decent towing vehicle, and nice and heavy as the trailer is tall.

The Show Trekka M has proved a bit small for us - we stay away for up to three nights at a time, and our 3yo has grown a lot bigger than expected! But we like the brand and will probably trade up to a Multitrekka (which is the very big rear unload one) to accommodate our equine mammoth!

Hope this helps

I have the Space Treka L and I must say the day living space is great - it's not fitted out, though mine has a bench seat and hooks. I am very pleased with mine :)

thanks guys :)
I'm only planning to take one 15hh so a medium size one would be fine. I'm liking the idea of having somewhere to put things instead of everything getting chucked in the back of the car, mayhem!
What does everyone tow with?
We have a SWB Isuzu trooper at the moment.

yes they do hold value- if you look on horsequest you'll see how quickly they sell. i have the showtrekka L and love it although big word of warning- there were problems with the axles on models manufactured between certain dates (2007-8 off the top of my head but advise you to check this). i had an axle snap when trailer was fairly new and have since had a new axle put on this year as well...both done FOC by ET.... but obviously worth avoiding if you can. they did officially do a recall so should be easy to find out about....

i tow with a mitsubishi L200 but only one horse.... tows fine
