I’m looking to buy a trailer camera and wondered if anyone has experience of an Equi-Vue2 wireless camera? You can download an app and watch it from your smartphone. It has it’s own WiFi..... is the picture any good?

I like the idea of watching the horses from my phone rather than a monitor on the dashboard (obviously not when I’m driving though!!!).

I went with the same theory but bought a cheap go-pro type camera from eBay with built in wifi. Connects to a phone for my passenger to watch and cost £20

No it's decent quality and really smooth footage, it can take a minute or two to connect at the beginning but I set it up and get it working before I load.

Only other downside is battery life, I get about 1.5hrs out of it but would just connect it to my powerbank if I was doing any longer journeys.

But for £20 I'm really pleased with it.

Could you please send me the link to the camera you bought, or the make and model. There are so many on there, and what they can /can’t do is a minefield. The one you bought sounds exactly what I want.
Thank you.

I have an Equi-vue trailer camera, I bought it as I'm a technophobe and couldn't work out how to fit a reversing camera/child monitor like others have done previously.

The first camera was faulty and the picture disrupted regularly, which defeats the object of having it! They were very helpful and replaced the camera. I had that unit just over 1 year, hardly used as horse was broken, when I came to use it again, it wouldn't work :( not so helpful this time as it was 1 month out of warranty. They eventually gave me an ex demo FOC, but it left a bitter taste in my mouth, I didn't pay all that money for a unit to be so unreliable.

Reversing camera I get but how does the child monitor thing work ? - is that an internal camera for the passenger to view?

I bought this one for £70 in the summer and fitted it to my trailer. I plugged the electrics in to the interior light. It was easy to do as they sent the small plastic connectors with it so no need for splicing wires. The connectors fitted inside the lighting unit. Then I just fixed the camera out of reach from the horse in a corner of the trailer. To watch it you plug the included screen in to the cigarette lighter in the car. This plug even has a usb slot in top so you can still use it for charging phones etc. You can then choose the display from the menu and get rid of the reversing grid lines and have a clear picture. This is then very easy for your passenger to watch whilst you are driving.
