Having a look for a chambon for my 5 year old just backed feb this year - dont like side reins and was looking at a chambon but then came across this

Link to equiami

Anyone used it or know someone who has - I quite like the idea?

Any other thoughts please he really needs to work his topline etc...

I think it is similar to the pessoa, but I think you can ride in it?? I quite like my pessoa

Though I know there are mixed views on them. But I would get it off eBay as you can get pessoas/copies and equiamis MUCH cheaper

I have an Equiami. I've found it easier to fit than the pessoa types but it only fits in the position below the chest i.e. you can't put the front bit higher as the training progresses (if you want to that is?)

I've got one.

Have never used a Chambon or Pessoa so can't compare.

It's well made, the leather and brass wear is excellent quality.

My only qualms are that the rope that goes round the bottom area needs some sheepskin round it, otherwise it just rubs from side to side and can't be very comfortable for the horse, and also I think, it needs a 2nd rope attached to the bottom strap up to a ring on the centre of the roller (spine) as the 'bottom' strap constantly drops onto or below the horses' hocks, however tight you do it.

I've got one that I use to lunge my 13.2 and 16.1 in.
I don't think that you can ride in the lunging one but think there is a separate riding one.
The lady at Equiami is really helpful on the phone.
My mare is relaxed and happy when i use it and the pony usually is a bit sensitive about things flapping round his hind legs but has never had problems with this.
You can adjust it easily and I'm very happy with mine.
My instructor suggested it initially and she really rates them.

We've got one for our 5YO, 14.2. I've found he really leans on side reins and wasn't keen on the pessoa et al. I really like the equi-ami- pony seems to really have to carry himself, looks relaxed and stretches. he's also a driving pony so the rope round his bum hasn't been an issue for him. The lady at equi-ami was also very helpful when we were researching it
