Could someone tell me the difference between an amateur ROR class and an open retrained racehorse class please? Has anyone done the racehorse classes at equifest?

Look up the definition of an amateur (rider) defined by the society under which you wish to show, generally speaking if you derive any income from equestrian pursuits you are not considered amateur but DO check the rules.
If you don;t fit those criteria you would need to enter the Open class - against professional producers of show horses, amongst others. Hope that helps

Yes check individual societies. Being a brand ambassador can mean someone isn’t an amateur under some societies. Not done Equifest but heard it was quite lively last year. Don’t think the racehorse classes were huge though may be wrong.

Thanks both. I've messaged the organiser as well. I'm definitely an amateur, no sponsor, don't make money out of horses, just ride for pleasure. I will find previous results to get an idea of class numbers.
