Does anyone have them?

All the horses at our yard seem to have come down with mudfever in the last 2 weeks, they are going into the back field in a month but Ive noticed today that both my boys are showing signs.

One has white back feet and his skin is rather pink although not scabby yet.

My other boy has some scabs on his one white foot.

So I was going to hibi scrub and apply aromaheal to them, however I want to keep the mud off so was thinking of investing in these chaps.

Ive heard good things about them but are they ok to use on horses that already have slight mudfever, as I know they are for prevention rather than cure.

Also how good are they, do they stay in place, rub etc?

Thanks so much everyone.

I turn my horse out in them, and they work really well! the only time that they dont work and slip down is if he goes galloping around the field!
If he stays calm and 'Normal' they work a treat!
the only bore is washing and drying them everyday! but its worth it! as he doesnt get muddy or wet legs under them!!

Thanks a lot!

How do they come up size wise?

Im buying for a 17.3hh MW gelding, he has the size 3 for stretch and flex wraps for his front legs, but Im wondering whether he will be a 4 or a 5 on his hinds?

I have just bought myself some so if you like i will report back when i use them.

As for size there is only a few cm difference and it is legnth of bone so if you measure his leg you may have an idea and if you find they dont fit I am sure you can return them.
I myself have bought two pairs and I am unsure if they will actually fit!

I bought these for my nutter of a youngster, but in the end I have used them on my other horse as she developed slight MF on all pasterns. They have really been brilliant. The MF cleared up quite quickly and I now only use them for prevention. I was using creams and sprays as well at the time, but the chaps enabled me to keep her legs clean so I didn't have to wash them, I could just towel off any wet mud, as hosing is bad news for MF.

My horse is a 15.3hh ISH and takes size 3 on the fronts and size 4 behind. I should think you might need size 4 and 5 on your big fella.

Thanks a bunch, I think so too!

I tried to measure him today, he was a 'bit' chilled out though so had to measure him in this position:

My last boy suffered with mud fever so tried the Equilibrium and also the Sportabrac ones. Found the Sportabrac ones a closer, snugger fit and easier to use (and cheaper!). Both do work though but as another post says, keep em clean, I had two sets so could use one whilst the other were being washed/dried.
