hello, I have one and its amazing. My horse stands and closes his eyes and dribbles when he's wearing it amd have noticed a difference in his dressga work as he was a little tight through his back. It works on the same principle as the equissage but is much cheaper and not as heavy. It is also good for putting on the couch and lying on to give yourself a massage.
Another "yes" vote for the Equilibrium. My mare also looks very relaxed while it's running - which she never did when using an Equissage which was much noisier. I notice a difference when I use it and am carrying on with it even though she's on box rest at the moment, just to ease any stiffness. Haven't tried it on myself yet but keep meaning to...
Check if they have postage charge as non on horseloverz and you can get a discount voucher from horseloverz if you reg. to win the saddle[ I think]
Just know that horseloverz send things really quickly
I got mine from Horseloverz last year (think they were cheaper then). Both of my horses really like it, and I tried it on FinkleyAlex's pony and he liked it too.
You can use them for a max of 30 mins a day and the battery lasts 6 sessions before needing to be recharged.
How noisy are they? Would they be possible to use on a horse who is extremely sensitive and difficult to clip? (Bearing in mind that the point of them is to make the horse relax...)
Yes - my anglo is very sensitive (he hates being groomed) and he just dozes in the pad or munches on hay.
You have to put his rugs on from the offside as the surcingles bang on him - that is how sensitive he is but he didnt bat an eyelid at the pad.
The noise isnt very loud - although mine isnt worried about the sound of clippers. Definitely a lot quieter than my pair of cordless clippers (I have the wahl avalons). Its more the vibrations than the noise.
My horse hates clippers but loves the equilibrium pad. has done much better since getting one - even started to get increased dressage scores now - im sure the pad has something to do with it
I can't rate this highly enough. I make sure I always use it before I get on.
The difference in my horse since I bought it (beginning of Dec) is amazing, he has always been difficult to get on (esp in winter), argumentative and tight through his back. These seem to be things of the past now!!
Another big thumbs up here ! I have a horse with a cold back and he's very sensitive. He has regular chiro visits but I've used the pad almost every day since New Year and he's gone from having a bucking fit when asked to walk forward with his saddle on (had a few weeks off in December) to being back to his normal self. He LOVES it. I have it on the highest setting now. Definitely a worthwhile investment. Try and do a search on it with a free magnetic back pad. I got one free with mine and they're £89 on their own. Someone else on here got free magnetic leg wraps with theirs. My friend got hers at an event and bargained it down to £170
really rate mine, use it daily on the mare, sometimes more than once. really impressive. much better than equissage too imho.
only thing is that it slips off to the side unless i do it up really tight... has anyone else found a solution to this? (mare's not round-bodied either!) should i put it on over a numnah or something?
No - mine slips too on the anglo too if he shifts his weight on his back legs. The pad is flat and not shaped for high withers so it has to be on really tight. It sits perfectly on my CB whi is stockier. I thought about using a numnah but I didnt want to put anything between the horse and the pad that might detract from the full effect.
The one thing I would change about the pad is the shape, oh and the chest strap which isnt at the right angle. Otherwise I agree it is better than the equissage and so much more quiet.
Slips on my boy too, which is a shame as I'd like to put it on him whilst travelling so he is 'ready to go' when we get to a competition, bit worried to do this in case it slips too far, and he'll end up fully massaged and loose on one side, and all stiff on the other. Wouldn't want to put anything between it and the horse though, it would have been better made of less slippy material. Really impressed with it though.
When I brought it I was told not to use it on the same horse more than the max (30 mins) a day, but is this what you all mostly do?
All my horse love it and just go to sleep while it is on them, i also find the horses are more relaxed if i have used theis on them before i ride than if i dont.
I have actually brought mine home from the yard as my back has been bad all day, and after reading the above i went out to the jeep and got it, so am sitting at mo being massaged, and it is fab, can see why the horses enjoy it so much
