Hi everyone,

I’m thinking about buying one of those equilibrium massage pads for my horsey.
A question to everyone using it, do the pads actually really help to loosen up the muscles or is it more a pampering session for the horse? Have you felt a difference in your horse?

PS. Does anyone have a pad laying around doing nothing? I would be interested in a second hand one, in good working order… ;)

Thank a lot :)

They're very superficial and the vibration won't go very deep at all, they won't do any good if your horse has any issues.

I use one before and after riding. I have found that it helps the warming up process and is relaxing for them after exercise.

I have also got the massage mitt and find that useful for the hamstrings and quarter muscles.

I have found that it also helps to reduce the heart rate (Endurance) as it helps them relax.

Maybe it does not help the deep tissues but then a good massage (By hand) will do that along with some stretching exercises.

Thanks for your replies jenni999 and paulineh! :-)

Is there an affordable better massage pad out there? The Equisage is meant to be good I think, but that's rather expencive...

Found it brilliant for warming up the muscles, in no way replaces a physio but does make a difference to my horse, especially if I use it before I ride

I bought mine for my previous horse, it made a huge difference to him, to the point where it wasn't really worth getting on him without using it first. It really helped loosen his back off. Current horse it doesn't make very much of a difference to, he enjoys it but I don't notice any difference when I ride so I don't really bother using it. He is very loose anyway though so i guess thats why. I would be happy to sell mine so pm me if you're interested.

LadyRascasse, thanks for your reply :-)
The physio treats my horse once a month. I'll keep that going anyway, just want to do something extra for him.

Fuzzypuff, I pm'ed you :-)
