I posted this in stable yard too but figure I might get more responses here. Anyone used Progest-WT or More Muscle (pellets or liquid) and did you feel they were effective? Or any similar products you've used that have worked

The one reply I had in SY was that with More Muscle there was a loss of fat which is something my mare really can't afford to have happen

The supplement my new horse is on after being very poorly for 2 months is Equitop-Myoplast. Has to be prescribed by the vet but apparently it is good, it contains 18 amino acids that are vital in muscle production.
Seeing as he is due another month off before starting work again I can't say if it has made a difference, but I'll try anything at the moment!

just about to start mine on the Equitop Myoplast as one of the other liveries had it for her horse and he plumped up (with muscle not fat) very quickly. There is a £15 off voucher you can get for it on the product website.

depends on the size of your beasty!!!

If you have a 1 scoop size horse the 1.5kg tub should last approx 2 months. It says on the website how many scoops to give what size horses.

It is £60 on surreyequestrian website, not sure how much it is from the vets....

I have a useless skinny TB who was impossible to keep weight/muscle on! We used to feed him on more muscle but tbh it had absolutely no effect. I've got alot more muscle on him by lunging in the pessoa for atleast 15 mins everyday over raised poles (although now we're at an hour but that's because I can't ride him for another week!) and I expect him to build up more muscle again when I introduce hillwork.

I'm not badmouthing the product and I don't know your horses history at all, but the only thing I've found to put muscle on effectively is the pessoa/lunging sorry! (last summer he was on more muscle and lunging once a week for 15 mins, and then all the other work contributing towards intermediate eventing).

Oh- and he's now fed on winergy equilibrium (because I'm a sucker for advertising and it says on the bad supports muscle function

_ spillers conditioning fibre, alfabeet and equijewel... but he's a really poor do-er and that's different from lack of muscle! If you look on my last post on Nora (Hartpury JAS) there's a before and after with Arth on there

hmmm, thanks LPP, Arth looks a lot like my beastie in the first pic. Can I ask what sort of quantities you feed of each, I know each horse is different but I sometimes worry that I'm over/under feeding alongside the ad lib haylage.

Really what I'm after is some fat cover on the ribs and a bit more muslce, she's got an impressive backside but a typical TB neck! Your first sentence sums her up to a T!

How much of the equitop myoplast do you have to feed a day? and how expensive does it work out on a monthly basis, is this the one that is about £60?

My boy is only on 1 scoop per day at the moment given that he has recently gone through a GA etc etc. He will go up to 2 scoops once the vet is happy for him to. It costs me £60 from my vets and as someone else pointed out there is a £15 off voucher at the moment.

My vet isn't one for recommending supplements, he is quite sceptical about most of them but this one he suggested.
