Hi,
Please does anyone have any photos of their horses equine body language that you wouldnt mind me using for a Pony Club quiz?.

It would be great to find pictures of obvious body language such as interest, anger, fear, relaxation etc but also the more subtle signs that the body, ears, tail etc use to communicate their feelings to us and their equine companions.

Also things like Flehmans posture(top lip raised) and foals showing submission by mouthing.

I would be very grateful but please only post pictures that are yours(ie without copyright) that you are happy for me to print.

Look forward to seeing pictures of your horses making their feelings known!
Many thanks

The body language of horses is really fascinating isn't it?. So much can be said by the flick of an ear or the roll of an eye!

I'll take the camera with me tomorrow and get you some pictures. Brown horse has a lovely line in 'go away it's my food' faces! They're very obvious so probably about right for PC children. He likes to let you know exactly how cross he is. At all times.

Superb photos - really nice!

Here's a photo which I used to show to vet students when teaching them about equine behaviour. I used to give them an informal quiz at the end of the lecture for light relief - "What behaviour does this photo show?". I included the one below as a trick question showing them only the right half of the picture first, without the frisbee. Of course people think it's a picture showing extreme aggression - a horse lunging at another horse or even a human. Then I reveal the rest of the photo to show that it's actually play behaviour. :)

P.S. Feel free to use any of the photos at http://www.gla.ac.uk/External/EBF/ for your Pony Club quiz (click on the thumbnail to get a full-sized pic).

Hollywoozle you must do alot of washing..............did you plan to have 4 greys?!
Jinglejoys he is really lovely.

Haha, no, it just bloody happens! Both my main childhood ponies were grey too. The ID, Jessie, in the last photo has gone to another home now and Inca was put to sleep recently so we are down to 2 greys (and a brown shettie). Got an Appy coming on Wednesday though so that will make a change!

As for washing, that rarely happens. :p

Fburton that is a fabulous photo. I would love to use that one if you dont mind. If you didnt see the frisbee you would swear there was about to be blood shed!

Yup, the stallion looks seriously cheesed off, doesn't he?!

(It's not my photo, but I'm sure it would be okay to use it in your quiz even if copyrighted - comes under "fair use" guidelines I imagine.)
