i tried naf, was naf literally but now i use blue chip karma -amazing. really really helps and as its a liquid i think it absorbs into their bloodstream better.
OH tried loads on his mare - one that works the best on her is Global Herbs Magcalm (although other magnesium calmers didn't work at all) along with Coligone
There are so many to choose from..I looked at loads...!! I had to consider the fact that my horse is a fussy eater...so got samples sent to me...Global Herbs would, some others wouldnt.
I have been told (from medical point of view) that magnesium will not work unless your horse is tested and is actually lacking magnesium...the body will just use what it needs and flush out the rest...so could be a waste of money and time.
I am currently nearly one week in to using Global Herbs SuperCalm...it appears she is at the 'alert' stage last couple of days which they said would happen due to it being like a tonic - so her eyes are on stalks last couple of days...and then calmness should prevail!!! Fingers crossed!!!
I has a sample of GH supercalm instants which work within 1-2 hours and last for the morning and didnt smell of anything...then when that seemed fine I sent for the tub which smells like a curry house but she is eating it anyway!!! Mind you she is a contrary mare..so I should have known whatever I tried she would do whatever anyway!!!
I have just put my tb on blue chip karma and after a week I have noticed a difference, all the jitterness has gone. She's not perfect (what horse is!!) but it is definately worth trying.
I currently use Global Herbs Thoroughbred calmer for my Warmblood
. Wasn't sure it worked but then ran out and boy did I see a difference. Back on it now and a week down the line and she is managing to concentrate again!!! The super calm is also very good but found this a bit too mych of a calmer for my girl.
, used the So Kalm paste and that was very good ( only needed an hour or two before comp) , but he has been on Gold Label brewers yeast for a couple of weeks and has become super chilled !! , I think its a bit hit and miss with them , what works for one won't for another , I was going to try the Blue Chip next because lots of people on here reccomend it
Global herbs do state that their products can have the opposite effect for 3 - 5 days when you first begin to feed it. The same thing happened to my mare but after presevearing it worked brilliantly!!
