It is nice when they are like that. I have had a few who don't really seem to do much, don't say much and then charge you £40 for 5 minutes work! But the other month I had a great young girl come out and do my horses teeth, she spent alot of time on them (probably correcting all the bits the other dentists hadn't bothered with), explained to me all that she was doing and why and even got me to look and feel inside his mouth before and after to make sure she had done a good job! I will definately be having her back next time

an advert! haha i said id give him a plug so i did,he has been around a good few years and he was recomended to us so why on earth dous it sound like an advert i was only passing on my experience,if you dont want to listen thats fine by me.

the whole point is here that he is not "qualified". In not being qualified, nobody of any worth has approved of his skill, knowlege and standard of treatment. He might be a "looker" or a "all right fellar"....but what value is that opinion to your horse. He isnt comprehensively trained and hasnt proved his worth to the extreemely knowlegable experts who are approving equine dental practitioners for your (the horse owning public's sake). The vast majority of the horse owning public have no choice but to rely on "experts" to carry out certain treatments on their beloved horses. The sad fact is that the vast majority of them are not getting a satisfactory standard of treatment carried out. If you havnt sat the exam....how can you know what the industry standard for equine dental treatments is?? The horse owning public can control the whole equine dental market by demanding that who ever treats their animals has been approved by other experts to do so. The most widely attended equine dentistry training course offered here in the UK (not the degree course) is being run by the only guy to have failed EVERY single part part of the industry standard exam.....the blind leading the blind.....shocking...isnt it??

And yes, I have passed...and am approved by many varying equine dental bodies.

mmmm just had a text message to say i was getting a slagging off on here so hello ive joined so i can see what the crack is.
mr or mrs pony dentist you do not know me or with whom or what organisation i am or have trained with,if you had searched my name you will see im a member of the wwaed the only organisation commited to improving dental technicians standard of work.you have to keep up training to keep your membership.im currently waiting for our organisation to sit the level 2 defra exam but this is still unlikely to be held until 2010,i work closely with one of the most qualified dentists to improve my standards of work and im commited to re training and education to further my skills.
what have you done? what training do you do now? do you know everything?? there is only 6 certified usa trained dentists here in the uk and a handfull of vets, some of the dentists who have took the defra exam years ago are producing very shoddy work as have never done any re training ect, me and martin brookes are running a owners awareness evening at doncaster racing college on the 24th of this month to highlight the issues and state of equine dentistry
in the uk. so get of your high horse explain what you have done and what you are doing to re educate yourself and at least have the bollox to join under your proper name or at least slag me off face to face
