Hello, equine dentistry is my dream career however I'm doing so much research and I'm getting nowhere, I think ive asked all the EDTs in Kent but I am willing to move away for one, or wait a year or two! :) I was wondering if anyone knew any EDTs who may offer an apprenticeship as I'm just really struggling now.
Thank you!! :D

You don't need to do an apprenticeship you just do the course and voila you are a dental technician

Not quite if you want to become properly qualified, if you only want to be able to do Cat 1 procedures then you can do a short course but otherwise you need proper prolonged training. Hartpury College no longer do a degree course but Plumpton College do offer a Foundation Degree which includes two years working with a EDT - whether or not you have to secure your own placement I don't know. Most EDTs work on their own and don't have the scope to take on apprentices eg my son says he has to travel such long distances, we are in Scotland, he wouldn't want to be paying an apprentice to sit in the car several hours a day. Also many, understandably, don't want to train someone who will then set up and be competing for their clients. One of the bigger EDT practices is Equine Dental Services based in Somerset, it could be worth talking to them.
