Not bute as he has a sensitive tummy!
Long term usage required maybe something like substibute or no bute but would like to know whats best

Thanks

Danilon is bit more expensive than equipalazone but is for sensitive stomachs also is kinder to their liver. Vetrofen is meant to be good but haven't used it. Lots of friends use no bute and really like it:D

Ive been giving my old companion pony Boswelia and she is fine on it. She had arthritis in one fetlock but is now sound. Look at pegasus Health its about £17 per pot but she only has one level scoop a day so not too expensive. Its safe for long term use. Search it on here if you want to there are several post about it.

Danilon is simply bute with a sugar coating, so will still afffect the liver and probably his stomach if it's sensitive. Boswellia Serrata is a good substitute for bute, although if a painkiller is needed everyday and boswellia isn't enough then I think I'd stick with bute and try feeding with a high fibre feed and a good probiotic.

My old boy had quite a few aches and pains and general stiffness. I tried all the No Bute, Butefree, e.t.c and found the only one that worked for us was Equine America's Buteless High Strength liquid. Worked a treat and made him so much more comfortable. Hope that helps.

Clinical trials have shown Danilon is much milder on the stomach than phenylbutizone and performs better. It is also excreted from the system quicker .
My horse has been on it for 5 years and liver function tests are fine, i wouldnt disregard its effectiveness or its milder effect on the gut so readily.
There are some good Research articles and clinical trials that provide evidence to this effect
