Hi there,
Just wondering, while I am waiting for the vet to call me back, is there any other pain killing medication on the market apart from Bute?

Someone did mention something to me the other day but I can't remember what it is called.

Benj is on 2 Bute (Danilon) a day at the moment but doesn't seem to be having too much of an effect.
Will it be a case of just upping the dose or is there something more potent out there?

Thanks

Whilst Benji is not as big as Cairo, he is still a substantial chap and 2 bute is not that big an amount. When Cairo was very lame, he was on 4 danilon a day. 2 a day was ok for when his joints were aching, but for real pain relief he needed 4 a day.

In view of your decision to give him the summer, I would not be worrying about having him on that amount of danilon and the side effects.

Danilon does the same job while bewing more palitable and less harsh on their liver etc for long term use than bute and 2 a day isnt a huge amount as already said.

There are other more natural alternatives for long term if you are worried after the summer.
