Have you, or would you ever use an equine rehab yard? If so, what services would you expect and what would you be prepared to pay for full rehabilitation livery?
I am currently working as an equine lecturer but am fed up of all the hassle that goes with the job and want to go back to being more hands on with horses. I have my BHSII, an equine degree and am just completing an MSc in equine performance science, I am also a qualified equine sports massage therapist. I now have the opportunity to take on a small yard which I could use for doing rehab livery, horses recovering from injury or surgery, coming back into work after a long break, or on long term box rest. The sort of things that many owners would not have the time of facilities to cope with themselves. I'm experienced in all types of ground work and have done lots of breaking etc, also thinking of training in some other therapies such as laser therapy.
Am I mad to be thinking of giving up a secure job in the current climate? What else could I offer? How should I market the service?
Any advice would be much appreciated, thanks for reading!!
