Hi all … I’m thinking of starting my own equine service business offering pay-as-you-go services ranging from one off turnouts to full yard and holiday cover …
I have over 20 years experience and fully insured and DBS checked ..
I’m after help and advice on what to charge for individual jobs. I’m based in Leicestershire … any knowledge or price ideas would be greatly appreciated x

I pay £100 a week when on holiday which incs 2 visits per day, poo picking or muck out. Lady is fantastic and is close by most days as does another horse in village. I think she is charging way too little.

Maybe £10 per visit if close by and takes 30 mins when there ? Min wage is going up as of April and u will have car running costs so make sure its worth your while!!

Thank you so much for your reply :)
Its so difficult to put individual prices on things without it seeming expensive , i'm trying to see it as if it was myself asking someone to come to me and what i would be happy to pay , but also as you've pointed out ,if they're not to local , price of car costs etc i also need to take into consideration .
Thank you again

I would say you need to say a minimum of an hours pay and at least £12 to make it worthwhile.
I had someone 6 years ago where it was £6, ponies only took 20 minutes to do and it was half price because she was in the area for other jobs otherwise it would be £12.

Say someone only needs you to turnout, can you afford to do it for £5 (or whatever) considering fuel, time, business expenses such as insurance, tax etc so doing a price per visit up to x time.

I'm happy to pay up to £15 per visit and it takes max 40 minutes to do my ponies - includes poo pick field, pick out hooves, feed (pre made), put hay out (pre bagged), turn tap on to fill water.

If you wanted to do individual prices for jobs then you could say plus £x for fuel to make it worthwhile but that could make it complicated.
