Hi. I'm sure I spotted an article recently, possibly in H&H, about an unsuccessful claim against a dealer. Someone had bought a very nice pony for her daughter, proved to be too much for her, brought a claim....? Along those lines? Can anyone point me in the right direction? In particular, if anyone knows which firm acted for the dealer...?

I'd be most grateful!

Thanks,
C

PS - no-one is claiming against us, someone I know is looking for a solicitor!

Having gone down the legal route myself I was eventually advised to cut my losses (£xx,xxx), in order that I didn't end up like the people in the article. Which in the light of their story seems to have been very sound advice! I take it someone is bringing a claim against your friends?

Oh my gosh! Goes to show you how quickly these things can escalate. Sometimes you are better off cutting your losses, even if she had sold the pony for £10,000 she would only be £8k out of pocket, not £180k :o

It was an interesting case because of course it was coloured by family pride, which I think may have clouded the buyer's judgement. Who doesn't want to think their kid is a great rider, after all they bought the pony so she could win. Looks like it was the pony who showed up her true level as a rider. And maybe a mother's pride wasn't willing to take that on board. A cautionary tale if ever there was one.

Precisely, pushy mum over-horses her daughter with high level competition horse that daughter can't handle. I hope the daughter hasn't been put off riding.
