I came across a supplement called Equinox Hooves today and wondered if it was any good? Does anyone use is please and had good results from it, and how does it compare to say Pro Hoof which I am currently using?

Thanks in advance.

I would check the list of what's in each product. Added iron or manganese aren't a good idea for most uk grazing/forage.

Don't know the supplement, but if you want to know what's in it, have a look at the webpage. It lists the ingredients: http://www.equinox-supplements.com/ingredients/ingredients-hooves.html

I deduce the daily recommended amount is 50g/day (because they state the daily dose contains 0.2mg selenium, and the analysis states 4mg/kg for the product). So, divide all the "per kg" ingredients by 20 to get the ingredient per dose. Comes up with about 600mg zinc, 120mg copper, 0.2mg selenium, 75mg biotin. Unless they've made a mistake on their list, this product contains virtually no magnesium (100mg per dose, but you really want something in the gram range), and low manganese (46mg, which could be good or bad, depending on your forage).

Compared to ProHoof, IMO the Equinox is a less well balanced mix, and lower in quite a few ingredients (magnesium, selenium, lysine). It as no Vitamin E (one of the most expensive ingredients), but higher biotin levels.

Now, i will try to make my post un-biased as I am good friends with the re-seller for equinox, but, the results i have seen on her own horses and others has been good, as with any hoof supplement it doesn't work over night as you need to wait for the new hoof to come through.

I use the original equinox on my 5yo who was fairly hard to keep condition on last year and she looks and goes amazing on it.
