I feed Equishure to one of mine to even out his hindgut ph, as far as I'm aware that is all it treats and wouldn't help actual ulcers in the stomach. I've used Feedmark Ulcer Calm, now called Gastric Comfort, previously on a horse with possible ulcers and he improved massively. The ingredients in it were almost identical to the gut supplement that my vet wanted me to use but at a quarter of the cost.
I've never tried AcidEase but I have had success with Protexin products, I'd say for ulcers it would be the better option.
Thank you scarlet. Do you know the difference in behaviour or the signs shown by the horse between stomach ulcers and hind gut ulcers? Not keen on going down the scoping route at the minute but if I have to i will.
I had mine scoped so we would know for definite. Belly was clear so we looked at hind gut and found inflammation then poo sample tests showed increased acidity. He had a history of ulcery behaviour - girthiness, weightloss, crookedness when ridden, runny poo, footiness/mild laminitis, stiffness in right hind - so I was surprised when he was clear. He's a different horse on the Equishure though.
He did improve very slightly with Ulcer Calm but not hugely, whilst with the Equishure he was transformed in 3 days.
