Anyone got experience using it, whats your view? Really considering getting my boy it. He is so grumpy when I feed him and when he is windsucking. Often threatening to bite me know which he wouldn't have done before. I have owned him 3 years now and the windsucking has gotten worse although his diet and management is better than it was in racing. Very confusing! Fine to ride etc and looking best weight wise through winter than ever before.

Just around food and when he is wind sucking. Help!
 
As soon as my horse came off GastroGard I started him on a daily dose of GastroG to maintain good stomach function. Had him checked again this year - no ulcers. So it would be worth trying something that helps stomach function.
 
I've not tried Equishure, but have read some very good reports and recommendations for it. So it's definitely something I might try.

Mari - can I ask who makes GastroG, who supplies in and how much is a tub/how long does a tub last? Thanks.
 
I used it for my lad who went through a period of being 'girthy' and certainly helped.

I would like to keep him on it but at £70 for 21 days not financially viable atm...
 
Equishure is a hind gut buffer, so useful in cases of hind gut acidosis. It's very good stuff if that's the problem, if it is you will see an improvement within a week to ten days.

As far as I am aware it is the only product on the market to actually reach the hind gut and target the problem ie the acidity. Other products simply support the gut and won't actually reduce the acidity. I have a horse with HGA and even with perfect management he can have blips, I swear by equishure but its expensive.
 
Equishure's fantastic stuff! I'd certainly recommend giving it a try, I saw results very quickly & can now maintain him on a low dose most of the time so it doesn't even work out that expensive.
 
Three quarters of a scoop twice a day, and that's for a big horse with long term gut problems - he's got a history of gastric ulcers, almost certainly pyloric ulcers & gassy colics. We were going through a particularly bad spell when we started it (seriously wondering if we were looking at pts) & if I remember rightly we began with four scoops twice a day - in a couple of days he looked less tight around his flanks, was standing differently & I wasn't having to tempt him with feed because he was starting to eat by himself!

I'd certainly recommend trying it, and if it does work the bigger size works out a lot cheaper. I spoke to the ladies at Lambourn as they're very local to me & I could call into the office & they were very helpful - I don't have they're number to hand but I'm sure if you call the main line on 01622 718487 they'll put you through to them. I believe they deal mostly with the racing side of things & as a result are very up to speed on ulcers.
