I am on the brink of buying the new equissage red system. Does anyone have one? reviews? Someone is coming out to show me it this week, this bit that goes on the frog has got me a bit intrigued.... ? I was just going to buy the blue one I didn't realise they had a new one!

Its Mr V's birthday in July :)

I have a pink one and I love mine, its fab for warming up and warming horses down in this rubbish weather. :o) Not sure what the red ones are like though. I think you can use two legs things at the same time, and there is a battery holder both sides but not sure about the rest.

Hi Mr. Velvet, if your looking at this type of equipment check out the Cyclossage Therapy System before you make a decision, www.cyclo-ssage.com, this is the most advanced oscillating system available and covers the entire muscle structure. If you like the look of it we offer a free demonstration and we also offer a hire service for short term issues or to satisfy yourself before you make a decision. P.M me if you would like more information and I would be happy to assist in any way I can.

With out it looking like I'm advertising I have a cyclo-ssage rug and find it much more beneficial than a equissage so it is def worth looking at both!

Equissage is a complete waste of money, trust me on that one!!! Just buy an equilibrium pad for a couple of hundred quid, or get a second hand system if your really that desperate for one.

Isn't the cyclo thing way more expensive than the equissage?

In real terms I think there is about £400 pounds in it, the difference between the systems is in symmetry of application, ease of use, time needed to achieve the desired effect and in the case of the cyclo-ssage three different massage options to tackle specific requirements. To be absolutely clear about this there are currently three professional systems on the market, the third being the Activo-med magnetic system, I have no doubt all these systems have their own merits and would strongly advise anyone considering a purchase to see and try all of them before making a decision. Which is best for you or your horse as an individual will never be clear without doing this and finding out properly what they are like to use, how your horse reacts to them and if you can fit their use into your management routine is very important if you want to avoid a costly mistake. I can only speak for Cyclo-ssage, but the reason we offer a free trial is that we want to be sure our equipment is the correct solution to our customers needs, if not we will say so and offer any help or advise that we can as to what else may be an option. Sorry to be long winded but I hope that makes things a bit clearer.

I have used the Equissage system on all our horses for some 7 years. In addition we have tried most other therapies without the same success.

Responding to some of the negative comments mentioned, it is interesting to note that (a) The Cyclossage systems therapy is actually copied from the principle of the Equissage system. Rugs are fine but can be cumbersome and the eventers say may cause horses to sweat underneath during the summer and hot months. I am not sure if the rugs are different sizes, do you need a different rug for a small pony, a cob or a big horse, something worth checking? Our Equissage fits all the ponies and horses. In addition and in conjunction with our vet we have used it for the normal massage therapy applications, we have also used it to help with horses respiratory, trapped nerves behind the girth area and driving infected puss out of hoof abscess, fantastic. Can the rugs do this.

I have seen many therapy rugs in yards where the dogs and cats seem to use them as a nice comfortable bed. Not really being used on the horses.

The Equissage system is so simple to use and I gather the new Red system has a host of new features, including the dual leg treatment, longer battery time etc. Its therapy principle has been used on humans for over 50 years. We still have an old Niagara Chair in my parents’ home, still working after 28 years.

It will be interesting to see the published results where one of the Universities has done a comparison between Equilibrium and Equissage therapies. We used equilibrium for an afternoon and thought we probably would be better off with a sander machine. Most people I know using the Equilibrium try and borrow our Equissage at any chance they can get, the investment being their only draw back in investing.

At the last world equestrian games, their was an Equissage user on every winning podium and also the same at the previous world games. (Info from Equissage)

All the vets and top physios (at the very highest level) are both using and recommending Equissage for its rapid delivery of therapy. Go to any international 3 day event and see how many Equissage machines are in use down at the stables, over 75% I would say.

You can talk about this till next Christmas Eve, if people have equipment which works for their horses then good for them. Incidentally I note on the Equissage website that they have placed a huge emphasis on customer training and support, this would be a decider for me, but than I have been converted for years.

We for one couldn’t recommend the Equissage highly enough.
Go for it.

Hee hee, think this could get interesting :)

Anyway as a general horse owner not affiliated to any product in any way I have to say I love my Equissage. I've had it a few years now & use it regularly on both my horses just to keep them soft over their backs, I'm a leisure rider so don't use it before big competitions etc but I still have to say it's a great piece of equipment.

I've heard all the nonsense about it can make them one sided due to the battery weight - well just put it on the other way round from time to time then, it works facing in either direction! I also have to say I lend it to my friend regularly after she bought a new hand massager on the market & still begs me for the Equissage when her horse is feeling a bit stiff!

The only downside is the battery charge doesn't last long but from what I've read on here that may be sorted on the new red system.

If you have the money then I would say go for it, my horses certainly appreciate theirs.

Just picked up on this thread as currently looking at Cyclossage rug.

In response to the post from Rodney Swanson - you sound like you work for the company or have some connection with it having read your lengthy discourse. However, that's as may be. What are the host of new features as I can only see that the battery pack is split to help the Pad remain more stable on the back and that two leg boots can be used without the need for someone to stand and hold them. So that's 2 features, what are the rest?

Re the rug, I believe it is now also much improved and made of a material which does not cause sweating anymore than the Pad does. It is also designed so as to put no weight on the spine. As it offers cycloidal massage then it has all the benefits of Equissage.

So perhaps someone can offer their comments into this debate?

tried equissage - had loan of a friends and found the equilibrium far better and more effective on my horse.

Its a lot of money to spend on any of them if they dont work as you want. try and hire, borrow if you can before trying. But don't discount the equilibrium on tha basis of price = effectiveness, i found the cheaper option was the best.

We had a blue equissage but traded it in for a fmbs rug and leg boots, our horses seemed to prefer this and it had the advantage of both massage and pulsed magnetic therapy over a much greater area. At the time it was only slightly dearer than the equissage. I know they've been upgraded since we bought ours but definitely think it was worth it, one of ours almost nods off with it on!

but others connected with products have posted comments here and quite openly stated their interest in said product/ or have a user name which shows their affiliation and allows other users to take than into account. But as a brand new poster you may not have been aware of that.
