Has anyone got one and would they recommend it?
If not, why not?
My dad has finally seen the light and told me to start looking with a view to buy one in June when he gets back from his holiday. He hasn't given me a budget but I assume I can get something new for around the £25k mark?

Im looking for one under 3.5T that can transport two 16.2 KWPNs with, preferably, a small living space or storage area ie somewhere to sit when its bucketing down outside.

Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated

I've recently bought a new one. I wasn't keen on the Equitrek as the ramp was on the offside and I wanted one on the nearside. I bought one from www.equimarkhorseboxes.co.uk and I am really pleased with it. It has a payload of just over 1 tonne, and has a small living at the back with cooker, sink, fridge, loo, table and storage. Couldn't be more pleased with it. Hope this helps.

Whittakers do make a 3.5t box which I seem to remember has a decent payload and pricetag to go with it ;)

I very much doubt however that you will find one with sufficient payload for 2 big horses, people, tack etc.

with two large horses, you will need a 'payload' very large.
Bear in mind - a 3.5 box has to way LESS than 3.5 Tonnes with horses, water, tack and people.

So if box is 2.5 tonnes, and each horse 500kg (Skinny!!)
Then your not allowed to drive as you will make it to heavy - get my drift?

A LOT of the time so called '3.5 tonne' boxes with two horses in are travelling overweight, illegally.
:(

There are a lot of threads about this already - Just making sure you knew :)

i kind of suspected that - It is very unlikely that both horses will be in the box at the same time but I would like to be prepared for every possibility

Dont know about the 3.5t but friend knows someone who has the Equitrek 7.5t and bits keep falling off it  It looks lovely, top of the range leather interior but the build quality wasnt up to much.
Also as others have said you will be limited to one horse if you gat a 3.5t. With £25k you could get a very nice 7.5t.

which will have to sit at the yard because I won't be able to drive it :p
Not sure if my dad can drive a 7.5T on his license either although Im not against sitting my cat C.
I would just prefer a smaller lorry if possible - however, if needs must, I can look bigger.

The fact that the equitrek fell apart makes me think I should be looking at prestige or whittakers
