Hello
I am looking into the Multi-Treka (rear loading herringbone). Does anybody own one or have experience with them? How would you rate them? What size of horse do you transport? Any positives / negatives?
Thank you in advance!

I had an equitrek and I would never put my horse in one again. I've seen the multitrekkas and had an equitrek dealer say to me he only recommends them for ponies. Having had the problems with my space trekka that I did I would be worried about a horse leaning on a wall. Sorry to be so negative.

I have had 2 equitreks(upgraded to larger one) and have found them both great. Horses love travelling in them a joy to tow. Havent any experience of the Multi Treka tho. Regular serviced at manufacturerer too nothing is too much trouble. Good luck with your search

I have a carriage treka which I think is very similar to the one you are thinking of.
I have a quite chunky 16.1 he loads in to it fine I have never travelled him in it as I also have a lorry and a IW.
But I would say it is tight and you need a good cooperative loader.
IMO you would not get two horses in .
They need to understand how to go in and turn like you do in a lorry one was fine he's experianced and obedient some young and skittish it might be difficult.

I did consider one for the extra space more than anything but unfortunately all the Equitreks I have seen (and we have a local dealer) have been badly finished and as my OH pointed out, if the side panels get damaged then there is no way of repairing them other than to replace the whole panel. Finishing touches have been bad IMO. I ended up buying a three horse Wessex trailer instead. (More like an old style IW and much cheaper than Equitrek)

We have a multi treka and have travelled, horses, ponies, mares and foals both in the UK and abroad and found the horses travel really well. My tip would be to find a good second hand one that is not too old. Hope this helps and good luck :)
