I have been thinking about getting one of these

equitrek

I currently have a freelander tdi (54 reg )and wondered whether anyone else has towed this equitrek with one of these??? I know some dont like towing with the freelander but please bear in mind my horse is less than 100kg in weight!! How are they to tow and more importantly to park!!! I currently have a 505 but need somewhere to sleep!

I haven't got a clue cos I don't tow but they do look nice, in fact Inky could stay in the trailer overnight with you

you wouldn't need stabling!

There's a current thread in Stable Yard on the same topic. I have a Showtreka which I tow with a 2.5 diesel Discovery and frankly I wouldn't tow it with anything with a lower engine size. With one 15.3 Arab plus water containers etc the Disco just about copes on hills.

Having said that, the EquiTrek is great to tow - nicely balanced - and as easy to park as any other trailer.

I think Equitrek have a list of recommended towing vehicles for their trailers as they are heavier than the average 2 horse trailer, may be worth giving them a call to find out? My friend has quite a basic one and l/w horse and pulls it with an Isuzu Trooper. TBH I wouldn't tow a lightweight trailer with a Freelander, they don't have enough power and I think the weights are a bit close for comfort (I appreciate you have a l/w passenger!!).

I wouldnt tow it with a freelander. the freelander just doesnt have the weight. the equitrek as well as being heavier then the ifors is also flat sided and has bigger sides. the wind will shove it around more then the ifor and with to light a car you will end up with the trailer shoving the car around which is never a good thing. Perhaps a disco or terrano or something similar.
