Hi,
We are looking at possibly buying the above brand new and just thought I would see people's view of them and if there have been any problems with them,we want a rear facing with the wider ramp hence why looking at this.
Many thanks.

Hi There, we have just bought one (2007 model -second hand) and it is lovely-lots of space and light, tack storage which is brilliant and the horses love it! Load/unload very easily with the side ramp too.

Thanks serenityjane for that,I know there is some mixed feedback on them so just want some reassurance as downgrading from a large lorry!.

They don't have a great reputation in terms of build quality but I have the Space Trekka L and am very happy with it.

I traded in an IW511 for mine so got it brand new about 3 or 4 years ago. It tows brilliantly and my horses travel really well in it, much better than they did in the 511 although they never travelled very well in that despite travelling well in the 510.

I have travelled a few friends' horses in it and they all load well including one recently who was supposed to be a difficult loader but walked right in. It's very light and airy and much less claustrophobic for horses that may have issues loading.

I love the fact they stay completely dry in bad weather and that I can keep everything packed in there. They do get quite warm when it's very hot but with all 4 windows open it's not too bad. I have found however that I've parked in places where the side load has been a pain as I've had to drop the ramp down into the road and block it completely for a while, but it's a minimal issue that just needs some forward planning! The same goes for tying up on the other side because at events to have the ramp down one side & the horses tied on the other side takes up quite a lot of room.

I have had things go wrong with mine, just small cosmetic things but they aren't built very well in places. The doors clip back but I've replaced the clips 3 times on mine and I've just broken another one which isn't great. A horse has also pulled off the tying up points in one easy move and I really struggle to open the windows because they easily jam up.

I've also broken a saddle rack but that was completely my fault as I put 2 saddles on one rack. Also the wheel hub things ( don't know what they're called ) keep coming off & I've had to replace 3 of those so I'm going to tie wrap them on when I get round to it! I've also had a nut/bolt shear off where the ramp is secured to the body of the trailer but it was easily fixed by the trailer centre.

All extra bits that you break can easily be ordered from Equi Trek and they do send them quickly.

I would be happier if the build quality was better but overall I love mine and wouldn't go back to an IW now.

Thankyou both, all great information-I know that all makes of lorry and trailers have issues. My boy can get claustrophobic in tight spaces and really want the Equitrek for the wide ramp etc as I know that once or twice in a normal front facing trailer,he would start panicking and bolting out!.Do you think the M would be large enough to take a 12.2,or a 14hh or 15hh.They don't normally go out together as all at different levels. The absolute largest I would ever have is 16.1 as unfortunately not blessed with height!.
Lastly have you or anyone you know dealt with the Equitrek Suppliers in Billingshurst in Sussex as this is where we would probably go unless directed elsewhere!.

I think the M would be plenty big enough for yours. I bought the L because I wanted mine to have as much space as possible but they are only 14.2hh & 15.2hh. I do travel my friends horse sometimes who is 16.1hh and to be honest I wouldn't want to put her in an M too often, something that size is better off in the L if travelling regularly imo.

I can't help with the Sussex dealers as I am in Devon but good luck with whatever you decide.
