Equitrek trailers

Hi everyone, I currently have an Ifor Williams HB10 trailer that is excellent but I really want something with overight living accomodation. I can't afford a horsebox and the cost of keeping it on the road so I thought of a trailer with living as I go away for weekends at camp and sleep in a tent which is sometimes very cold.
I am thinking of buying an Equitrek Showtreka and wondered if any of you have used or owned one and what you think of the build quality etc.

i know the feeling id love 1 a girl who runs a horse camp at somerford park has 1 n she showed me round hers and it was realy nice nothing worse than a tent at this time of year
 
My Ifor Williams is only 200kg lighter than the Equitrek! They are not really that heavy. My Nissan Terrano 2.7 is pulls the Ifor like its not on the back so don't think I will have any problems towing it. I NEED some luxury! lol
Just don't want to pay so much money if they are not worth it.
 
somerford is great i love it there n love the camps the trainers are good n also always a good bunch of girl there met loads a people from there iv been on bobbies camps shes lovely n janes also real good fun i think il be looking for 1 in the future a tents just no good n i always trip over the bloody pegs
 
i have a show trekka- bought it for exact reasons that you want one for- am a regular camper!

TBH...whilst my horses travel well in it i feel it was a big waste of money. the trailer i have (i got it new direct from ET) is a big load of crap...i swear a 4 year old could have achieved better build quality

have had lots of things break (e.g. saddle racks) but most notably had a snapped wheel axle- and found customer service seriously lacking when i needed it fixing. also find it gets VERY damp- despite the dehumidifer that i use. stayed in it when on camp last weekend and my pillow/duvet that was touching the wall was p!ss wet thru...so not really any warmer than a tent, at least you are dry in a tent

diggerbez omg n they look ever so good when your in 1 well in that case you may aswel put a blow up bed in the back of your trailer rather than shell out all that money for 1 id love n toyed with geting 1 maybe not stay with the ifor
 
Hi - I used to have a show treka and loved it - had to sell as my discovery was costing the earth to keep on the road !!!

I never slept in it, but was really useful having somewhere warm & dry during shows. Mine did suffer a bit of damp, but nothing too bad -

Only thing that I would say is that there wasn't very much room in the living area - the bench / camp beds were quite narrow so would recommend that you try lying in them before spending any money.

Have to say that the horses always travelled well and I found it really easy to manage on my own, manouvering, etc.

If I have enough money at some point then I'll definitely buy another (hopefully not with the problems of the previous post !!).

TBF i think i have been very unlucky - i also had probs with my leisure battery...turns out ET had hammered a nail through a wire so it was shorting out. shame they didn't notice/fix this when i returned it to them 5 times

from posts on here they DO have issues with build quality and poor customer service...but then some other people love them. i spent the first night of camp on a blow up bed in a friends 3.5 horsebox- only reason we ended up in the ET was because the bed deflated and we couldn't find the air pump!

the beds in the ET are VERY small...ok if you don't need to move in your sleep

I've had mine for nearly 4 years and love it. Horses travel well (recently 12 hr journey and bounced out at end), do get a little condensation sleeping over night, but window tiny bit open sorts that.

Broken saddle racks worst I have had, but TBH those kind of racks arent really up to much anyway. Replaced mine with proper ones.

Would check that your NIssan is really ok to tow with tho, depending on size of horse you are putting in
 
I looked at them with a friend who was getting rid of her ifor williams and disco. To be honest, I thought they were rather a lot of money for what they were. Price they advertised was just for a basic shell. By the time you'd added the things you'd need/want, you could go out and buy an older but reliable lorry. I'm not impressed by them at all. She ended up spending a bit more than intended, but came away with a lovely new build lorry on an 8 year old chasis.
 
IHMO I also think these trailers are a expensive way to go unless you also need a big tow vehicle for other uses otherwise a lorry and a economical car to run about in seems a good plan,
until someone comes up with a UK legal gooseneck horse trailer
