Wondering if I've been exceptionally unlucky or if this is normal when something is cancelled ?

Entered an event on 1/11 which was due to take place on the 2/12, event cancelled due to a strangles outbreak . Apparently info posted on organisers personal web page . I found out as I'd contacted via email to request my time slot . Event rearranged for 17/2 . Refund offered but as I wanted to attend , said organiser could keep money for rescheduled date .

5/2 , contacted organiser to ask if an hour slot became available , I'd like to book , rather than the 30mins I had already paid for. Told it may not go ahead due to lack of interest .

Day of event , didn't hear a dicky bird so assumed cancelled and emailed my bank details to organiser for refund . No reply , no response , nothing . Decided to give it a week , maybe they were busy . Organiser totally ghosted me . Left with no option but to go through Equo events . This was 1/3 , person said they'd get in touch with organiser . No further response . Contacted person at Equo events again 12/3, this time she asked me to forward a copy of the invoice which I did . Maybe should have done that the first time , or have been asked for it ?
I didn't think I'd ever have to chase an organiser for a refund , or chase Equo events to chase the organiser ! Probably the most annoying part is that the refund will be sent in 5-10 days . In this day and age , 5-10 days isn't really acceptable . This is the first time I've had issues , but it has been quite the palaver and not at all what I would have expected . Or am I expecting too much ? I know events get cancelled , and that it's often out of people's control but at least refund the cost ! I hope nobody else has had such a negative experience .

I had wait 3 months for a refund after a clinic cancelled. It was booked through Equo and they were very helpful in chasing the venue. They also explained that it can take 5 days for a refund to process (not 90 days though).

Equo just handle the transaction and have no ability to make the venue refund. They try but ultimately the issue is always with the organiser and not Equo, they’re just a booming system.

Had you had no response from organiser ? Would have preferred not to have to contact Equo events , as you say it's not their responsibility . Didn't know what else to do . Glad you got your refund through eventually . Just an unexpected faff on , never had this sort of thing happen before .

Yes he just said “sorry, I was busy”!!

I had same last year with a SE organiser who cancelled an event allegedly due to lack of interest. Chased and chased until I finally went to Equo who were brilliant and put the pressure on him to reimburse me. Won't ever book anything with that organiser again.

Doing refund thru equo is a bit of a pain as an organiser, but that's no excuse for taking so long.
We gets ours done asap because it takes a fair while for them to get back to you the customer.
