It seems some rats have moved into my muck heap - yuk

I don't have any problem with them in my hay barn etc but am keen to get rid of these so they don't breed and/or move inside.

My golden retriever comes to the yard with me so I need a dog safe way of killing the critters. Eradirat claims to be safe (it says it's not actually poison) but is it any good?

I don't think I'm heroic enough to use cages & shoot them. Especially not in the early morning!

Other suggestions gratefully received

we use it.

I we always find a few dead ones! though they have to eat a fair amount because basically it expands in their stomachs.

they do eat it, though I also tend to cover the pellets in a bit of oil too as they love the oil.

That's good to hear.

Do you have dogs about? Are you convinced it's safe?

Also how do you put it down? In bait boxes or in clingfilm in their runs?

I have an electronic trap which is great for the mice but I think the rats manage to escape before they get a lethal dose!

hehe. No we have cats (smaller than the rats) who generally have more sense than a retriever

and I dont think would touch them dead as they dont tend to but sort of a just in case thing. It is safe as it doesnt poison them but pops their stomach. prob horrible way to die but... it prob does take longer than normal bait.

We dont get too many most years as only have small barn and 2 stables, its more the chewing holes in stuff that is a problem. They have a run along the back of the stables (where they chew the wood through to the barn) so we have a baitbox there with a slab on top to keep it dry and something eats the bait!
