Well, as I wasn't on H&H last night and didn't see the forecast I was most shocked to get up to 43mph winds and heavy rain!

Needless to say my poof of a racehorse is staying in today even though she begged to go out. I know the drill, mummy let me out - ok then, then hike 1/2 mile to field for her to then protest to come back in. Today we didnt play that game, she is still in bed.

As for me, well I'm drenched and now warming up with tea and toast.

I love the UK!

Snap! Leapt out of bed all ready to ride my racehorse, took one look at the weather and went back to bed for 1/2 hour. Also left mine in bed after a quick spin on the walker, like you couldn't face the trek to the field for him to require in again 10mins later!

Made the mistake of washing my yard coat yesterday - you know it's time to do this when the queue in the village shop disperses as you arrive.

Trudged up the hill to get the boy in and grabbed his field mate too, as they had both had enough, then had them wiping their muddy selves on me all the way back down, trying to get behind me to use me as a wind shield. Wusses!

Now. Should I bother to wash my coat again?

LOL!!! Thats hilarious Kate!! Thank god it wasn't Tesco or you'd have been in the local paper.

Soggy is the only word to describe today. First time since last winter I came back with a cloud of stink and a mud-monster clinging to my wellies.

Thankfully I did see forecast and brought them in and so escaped the slip & squelch of the gateway.

Mine were desperate to go out this morning so I put in them in the winter paddocks with knee deep grass rather than their normal "autumn" ones and they seemed happy. Will pop up at lunchtime to check them but hopefully they will be happy munching until 3ish.

Yep, we relented today and have left them. Luckily where we are now has a school so we turned them out in there for half an hour to stretch their legs. Sleepy the TB had a great time running around trying to get Dan the welshy to play, who stood in the middle of the school throwing dirty looks at Sleepy and if he could speak would have been telling him where to go.

Ours live out 24/7 with free access to their stables. Yesterday morning they are out there in the thick of it all, even the unrugged ones, not remotely bothered. Whilst OH and I are drenched from head to toe trying to persuade the little "angels" to come in for some breakfast and hay in a nice dry stable. We have been very well trained I think!
