just had a txt from my loaner to say i need to take my horse back! typical! even though contract says need to give a months notice! he has been fine and she likes him but it was loan with possible view to buy in 6 months, however 2 weeks later she asked the price but she thought it was too high (and ive been told it was reasonable by multiple people who know the horse) i suspect she was after him cheap and was going to sell on in summer so maybe a lucky escape but still...

now im stuck with him after JUST moving yards to a place not suitable for him as has no school and not very nice stables as he preferably would need to be kept in on nights for winter as he is a wimpy tb

just erghh! not having much luck in the horsey world atm!

rant over !

Winter is coming - the horse market is dire - and forage is going to be expensive this year - hard luck for you - but will be a common tale, I suspect. I was planning on selling a nice horse this Autumn - but am not going to give him away -so am keeping - guess that many are in the same position?

I personally believe that you either want to sell or loan - if you want to sell and cut all ties then you need to negotiate. Basically, if you believe your horse is worth £1,000 but they offer £500 then you need to think about livery and feed for 6 months worth of winter and basically it is the same figure....

Hope you come to an agreement that suits both....

Shouldnt this have all been agreed before they took the horse?

Not asking or agreeing a price before the trial period started was a bit silly.

IF its the right home then maybe coming down on your price is worth it. As people have said the price of keeping a horse soon adds up.
