Hi, I am wondering really if I could replace my TB's ration of hi fibre cubes with the ERS Pellets as they appear more calorie rich and sound beneficial with the oil and extra antioxidants - she is prone to tying up but also a poor doer so she gets low starch and low sugar products and protein rich feeds such as Alfa A Oil and I add micronized linseed. To this I have currently been adding some hi fibre cubes and Baileys lo cal balancer. I am keen to use a balancer to ensure she digests properly what she eats but the cubes I wonder if the ERS ones would be of more benefit to her? Any thoughts/ knowledge? Thanks

If your horse is prone to tying up then yes. It's a product I would use instead if fiber cubes which in this case I don't think offer any real benefit.

I feed ERS pellets to my sporthorse who has had ulcers in the past and doesn't tolerate sugar and starch well - he is a poor doer in the extreme cold and works six days a week, including on average two comps a month (he events and does indoor stuff in the off season) and the ERS pellets (along with micronised linseed) really help him maintain condition, give him enough stamina and don't send him offhis trolley :)

I use these for my TB ontop of Calm and Condition and really rate them! I would also have a look at your hi fibre cubes as many of them have molasses in!

Thanks guys, confirms what I have thought - no starch or sugar and also more calories and other benefits... unfortunately they work out quite a bit more expensive. If I fed half a round scoop of fibre cubes before how much do you reckon I would have to feed of the ERS pellets? Same amount? Thanks

I would introduce gradually upping to see what she needs, I used them as more energy for my girl and only put in about 500g's per feed

Absolutely not the same amount. Look at the calories of the fiber cubes and feed the equivalent of the pellets, which will be less in volume.

I feed ERS to my PSSM lad, but as extra calories - not nearly the recommended amounts, would send him off his trolley! I feed a stud balancer (the higher protein for his pssm), Alfa A Oil and I add ERS and sugar beet in the winter when he needs the extra condition. Even in the depth of winter I didn't feed more than a scoop and a half a day, as it is high energy!! I found I was getting through 3-4 bags a month in the worst of the winter.

Absolutely not the same volume as the fibre cubes. The ERS are MUCH higher energy.
