ERU

My pony was recently dignosed with ERU. Today it was confirmed by the vet as she thought it was but the other vet said it wasnt. Now they have agreed that it is but the one that said it wasnt wanted to start him on bute for 6 months except bute upsets his stomach. The vet that said it was said put him on one drop of pred forte ever 2 days. I trust the vet that wants to put him on eyedrops because she has far more experience but not sure

what is the usual treatment for it medically. we have the fly mask etc so thats not a problem, its just the medication.

I have heard aspirin can be effective, also MSM which is anti inflammatory

If it is active then 1 drop of pred forte every 2 days isn't a high enough dose and if it isn't active then you don't need the treatment. The eye is a more isolated organ than most so topical meds are the best. ERU can be serious so I would recomend asking for a referral to a veterinary opthalmologist, from your comments!!
