i've got a new horse that loves hunting but doesn't seem to be suitable for what i want to do, eventing. he goes great at home but you take him out competing and he refuses tiny fences. at 10 and with me and his previous owner spending nearly 3 years in total convincing him to compete i was thinkin of taking him back to what he loves.

i know theres the ban but around where i live the hunt doesn't seem to care about the ban and carries on with the foxes.

are there any regular drag hunts going on in essex i could go to?

Have you tried looking for Bloodhound packs? They "hunt" a cross country runner rather than a false scent like a drag pack.

You could also look for traditional packs who are hunting a trail during the ban.

i know and its so frustrating! if i didnt feel morally rubbish after i would do traditional :S i know the chance of the kill is slim i just wouldnt want to be part of it tbh. problem is theres loads of drag and bloodhounds north but down here its pretty much non existant. theres one hunt that does a drag hunt once a year but all the others are fox

i'm doing a long distance advanced ride (fast and big fences, the novice my mum did last year was a little poodle and some baby logs so wanted a bit more atmosphere this time :)) with bloodhound dogs but not actual hunt on november but it only happens once or twice a year and i was looking for something most weekends to really get our confidence and bond up
