Can anyone tell me what happened the Church View Riding School in Canewdon. It was on Anchor Lane and run by Sue Smith.

I learnt to ride there and helped on a Saturday for quite a few years and remember it before the indoor school was built. My gelding also lived there for a while in the 80's.

I haven't been back since then and wondered why it closed down and what happened to Sue. I'm guessing she would be in her 60's now.

Hi, I was randomly thinking about the old days and tried googling Church view riding school where I learnt to ride. I left the area in the late 70s and have no idea what happened to the school but do remember riding a pony called Bubbles.

I have lived in the area for 8yrs and never heard of it :(

I know this was from a long time ago but I think the RS was closed in the mid 80’s. I found some council planning papers which talked about the indoor school being dismantled. It was where the Scotts Hall Road, Anchor Lane and Lark Hill Road met and there was a bus stop directly outside it. It has recently been sold and is now a housing estate ☹️
