HELP!!!

I moved to Essex on Monday, moved the horse to a livery yard that is directly behind the house i am living in and i HATE the yard!!
When i looked round i wasn't overly impressed but my Mother (!) persuaded me that it would be ok as a temporary measure.
I was under the impression that there would be some kind of assistance, i.e a feed and T/O in the morning or bring in the eve if need be, on occasions when i couldn't be there to do it, i was wrong!!

Now, i know its DIY so i fully expect to do everything myself, thats fine, however, i cannot tell my horse that she can't be fed when her neighbors are fed because i am not able to be at the yard at 5am!!

There are odd occasions when i won't be able to get to do the horse every morning and every night, especially as my new job is shift work in London, meaning i can only do 1 end of the day.
They don't seem a very friendly bunch, i have tried chatting to a few of them but they really aren't my cup of tea, not meaning to be rude or unkind i am just not used to being on that type of yard, for want of a better expression its chav central!

So..... Does anybody know of anywhere within 20 mins of *ahem*Canvey*cough* Island that does part/assisted livery??
Doesn't have to be anything exciting, just brick stables, a half decent school and some T/O (24hr in the summer would be good but not essential) and a tack room!

I am desperate to get out of that place, i hate it, only saving grace is that my horse seems quite settled which is good or i think i'd be hot stepping it back to Surrey!!

Sorry for the ramble, i am just so upset that the yard is so horrid.
I am going to go over to Ingatestone saddlery later and see if there is anything on their board for livery spaces in the area, any other places i can look? Suggestions please peeps, i need your help!!

(also posted in stable yard)

dont know any yards i am afraid but going to be really annoying and say give it some time, try and focus on the good points, i would LOVE to have my horse at the back of my house and also you said she seems settled which is important. Maybe everyone thinks you arent their cup of tea either - maybe give it a go and force them to chat and see how you get on. They might even be able to suggest someone who does services to help as that is sometimes the case with those sort of yards. At least you will have tried - even if you still decide to move it will make it easier in the meantime. Good luck!

I have tried to focus on the good points, however, apart from having her practically in my back garden there are no other good points that i can see.

She is quiet, but seems pretty settled, however as i am so uptight about the place she will soon pick up on that however well i try and hide it.

I don't think i'll ever fit in, i got some mighty strange looks last night when i not only lunged with a pessoa but i also put bandages on my horse to work her

.

I just don't really fit in there, i am trying though.

Get used to chav central and enjoy Ingatestone !!

There are however some great people around it will just take you a while to network and adjust and I would agree a livery at the end of the garden may be worth putting up with other things as long as your horse is ok

I am too close to Ingatestone for the good of my credit card

Seriously, i cannot stay at the place for long, i thought it would be ok especially as i can look at her out of my back bedroom window, unfortunately every time i do i am reminded of what a hole the yard is and how much i hate it, i look at her munching in the field and want to cry.
Sad and a tad pathetic i know but she is my baby and if things aren't right it upsets me

Seriously - speak to Nats_uk - her yard has pretty much everything you have asked for (including 24/7 t/o in summer).

Im at the same yard as Nats_uk it is lovely but the arenas are getting a bit of a bad reputation at the mo

need to moan to yard owner again

remember how lucky you are to have a horse there are so many people on here who would love to have one and would gratefully accept any livery yard. Sorry sounds harsh I know but honestly be grateful you have her - give it a few weeks and then look, you may get used to having her so near.

I am extremely greatful to have her, i don't think anywhere in any of my posts i have ever been ungreatful!
She is my baby, and any one on here that knows me will know what i have been through with this horse will know that she is my pride and joy.
I am very lucky to have my horse, she is my horse of a lifetime and i tell her so every time i see her, she is a 'mummies little angel'!

I really don't think i am being unjust in asking for help to find somewhere that is more suitable for her and I, after all she is my hobby, she costs me a lot of money and i enjoy every second i spend with her, therefore if i am not happy with where she is kept then for the sake of driving a few miles down the road i'd rather do that then and be somewhere that i want to be rather than sticking it out at a place that i am unhappy at.
If i am unhappy then she will pick up on that, we know each other very well, i have owned her 9yrs and apart from the odd week's holiday/weekend away i have looked after her every single day of those 9 yrs.

I shall have to stay until i find somewhere else but is i said in my first post, i need some assistance sometimes which the yard cannot offer, surely if i just leave her to it and don't have assistance then i am neglecting my duties as a responsible horse owner?

I don't mean to sound harsh here but i feel, given the circumstances you are being a little unfair, thank you for your input thought, it is all greatfully received.

i didnt think they were taking on any new liveries?

i understand thats cool, am having a bad day too. just try not to stress i guess, have a peek around and see how you get on.

Is South Hanningfield area too far?

I have sent Stinky to Sarah Fortt's place for schooling and her yard is lovely - good school, hacking and turnout. Sarah's prices are very reasonable and she does all types of livery. If I lived nearer I would move my two there tomorrow and I am very happy at my present yard.

She has made a huge difference to Stinky and he is very happy there and very well looked after - I wouldn't just put him anywhere as he is my little baby.

She has a website with all details on

http://www.topclassponies.co.uk/

Though her website does not put on DIY cost, I know she offers it.

Stinky adores having a warm shower after being ridden - going to be a bit of a shock when he is home on Sunday and back to the hose.

Hope you find something you are happy with.

Kombikids, thats cool, i am also having a stress about Lia so guess it was a case of cross wires.

Theresa_F, looks lovely, Is it worth me calling and talking to someone about livery, i didin't really want her on part livery however, since my original post my situation has changed and i now have a job in London, 6 wks training then it will be shift work so think my only option is part livery.

Everybody has been so helpful, thank you all so much, i am a lot less stressed about it now i have some ideas!

sorry, live miles away so can't help but loads of sympathy though. If your not happy I agree, you spend a lot on a very expensive hobby and she will pick up on ur mood. I've been at a yard like the one you describe, definatly look at moving, people do defrost a bit but usually some effort is made when you first get there.

Good luck

Thanks cai.

So far all i have had from most of them is 'Are you the new lady??'
'Ah, nice 'orse, she's big isn't she'
She is 16hh, hardly big!

I don't know if i have already written this in an earlier reply but i now have a job, in London doing shifts so there is no way, even if the yard wasn't a hole and chav central that i could stay as i will be needing part livery, now they defo don't cater for that!

I would deffiently run a mile if anyone suggested pear trees, longwood etc! anywhere in Basildon there all horrid yards imo just had a horse come up here from one of them and nearly another but its skin and bone poor thing.

I would highly reccomend Birkett Hall in South woodham ferrers its a lovely yard when i was there they do all sorts of livery and have always been friendly when i was stabled there but obvisouly people change i know the "fattys" as i and my friends called them are there Lol but other than that there shouldn't be to many chavs.

As i know exactly what you mean about yards in canvey/basildon being chav central i about died when i went into one of the yards! I looked an idiot in the yard with my dublin river tall boots on and horsey clothes and not the latest nike air trainers and trackies out! LOL.

I hope that you find somewhere soon. Sorry the yard is not what you are after. I did warn you though!!!! You need to go more Chelmsford way, you should find some nice ones there. Howe Green have a few yards. A girl I know lives there, in fact has a yard. I'll ask her if she has any space. Not too sure on her facilities but I know she has a horse walker and its on a HUGE farm. I'll text her for you

Royalpolo & Tricksy thank you!!

I am now looking in the Chelmsford area, i have the number of Birkett hall to call and see if they have any spaces.

Wish i had done my homework a bit better now, i must have looked around the yard with my eyes shut i think!

Tricksy, pls PM me if your friend gets back to you, Howe Green would be ideal for me!
